The news should come as no surprise to Rob's legions of female fans, who have helped catapult the previously unknown British hunk to overnight A-list status.

'Twilight' Star Robert Pattinson Lands Lead Role In 'Remember Me'
While Robert Pattinson is deep into filming the "Twilight" sequel "New Moon" for Summit Entertainment, the studio has tapped the 22-year-old British star for another project about star-crossed lovers.
Pattinson will play the lead role in "Remember Me," a story of a young couple whose burgeoning relationship is complicated by a succession of family tragedies that test their bond, according to ScreenDaily.com. The makers of the film, which had previously been titled "Memoirs," have not yet settled on which actress who will play Pattinson's love interest. Read more...

Stephenie Meyer's Twilight banned
The combination of Stephenie Meyer, vampires/werewolves and the Mormon church always seemed an odd one to me. Now comes news that Deseret Book, a store owned by the Mormon church, has taken Meyer's immensely popular Twilight off its shelves. Same for the other books in the series: New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn.
According to a story in the Salt Lake Tribune, the bulk of Deseret Book's business comes from the sale of religious titles. And it apparently doesn't matter that Meyer is arguably the most famous Mormon author -- she graduated from Brigham Young University and is a member of the church. Read more...

Twilight Screenwriter: Bring On Channing Tatum!
If Channing Tatum hasn’t read the Twilight books, he may want to start.
At least one very important person in the movie adaptations of Stephenie Meyer’s vampire love story thinks Tatum would be perfect to play bad-boy vampire Riley in Eclipse, the third in the four-book series.
“There’s a very big battle at the end with Riley, and I think Channing would do that so well,” Twilight and New Moon screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg, who is currently writing the Eclipse script, told us this weekend at the Los Angeles Times Book Festival benefit for the Writers Guild Foundation.
“And there are some complexities to that character," she adds. "He really is tragic. He’s a puppet for Victoria [bad-girl vampire played by Rachelle Lefevre]. So he has to break your heart a little bit at the end when he realizes that she doesn’t want him. Channing could do that beautifully.”
Rosenberg also confirmed some good news for Robert Pattinson fans...
Even though Edward Cullen may not be in the New Moon novel as much as he is in the others, she promised we’ll be seeing plenty of the Brit actor in the flick, which is currently shooting in Vancouver with director Chris Weitz. Read more...

Kellan Lutz likes to think that he is Robert Pattinson's brother when they are filming scenes.
Kellan credits Twilight author Stephenie Meyer with helping him understand what makes Emmet tick. He told Scholastic: "She was always there for us. I had a lot of questions. There was one passage that was left out, about Emmet and the bear, and it told a lot about Emmet and Edward's relationship and how close they really are.
"For me to read that really helped me understand that relationship. When Rob and I are acting, I really feel that we're brothers. Without that I don't think I would have had that connection. Stephenie just gave me so much info."

Taylor Lautner and Selena Gomez have both been busy in Canada working on their upcoming films, but apparently they’ve found a way to make time for each other. The two youngsters have been spotted having dinner together and a witness saw them hit up a cafe together on Thursday.
“They were very low-key and kept to themselves,” an eyewitness tells us. “Nobody bothered them.”

Robert Pattinson: I Act For 'Pretty Girls'
In a new interview with "Twilight Saga" star Robert Pattinson, the sexy actor told the UK's Independent that he got into the profession for the ladies.
"[My dad] saw a bunch of pretty girls who were going to it," Robert said of getting his start in amateur productions at the Barnes Theatre Company. "[He] said: 'Hey Rob, you've got to go to that.' That's the reason I still do it!"
And though he's been linked to a number of Hollywood stars – including "Twilight" co-star Kristen Stewart, who he was reportedly spotted holding hands with last week – he told the newspaper the rumors are just that.

Plans have been announced for a new reality show called "Mission Hollywood," which will feature 12 women competing in an "American Idol"-like competition to see who is the best actress. The prize? A role in one of the upcoming "Twilight" sequels.

Lawsuit won't keep ‘New Moon’ from rising
A lawsuit filed against “Twilight” author Stephenie Meyer will not halt production of the vampire film's sequel, “New Moon,” as some outlets reported Monday.
A spokesperson from Summit Entertainment, which is releasing the film, says “Production is underway, in Vancouver, totally as planned. There is no delay. Whatever you’re hearing about a lawsuit interfering with the film (and) its release, all I can say is it’s totally false.” The film is slated for a Nov. 20 release. Read more...


Heyerdahl cast in next Twilight movie
Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis actor Christopher Heyerdahl has been cast in The Twilight Saga: New Moon, the upcoming fantasy film based on the second book in Stephanie Meyer’s popular vampire series.
Standing at 6-foot-4-inches, Heyerdahl will play Marcus, an evil vampire and head of the Volturi. He’s best known to Stargate fans as Todd the Wraith, though the Vancouver-based actor has also played the Athosian Halling, and Pallan in the SG-1 seventh season episode “Revisions.” Read more...

Twilight Writer Sued for Plagiarism
Stephanie Meyer, the writer behind the wildly successful Twilight book, is being sued by a former friend for plagiarism--and production on the follow up, New Moon has been halted as a result.
Heidi Stanton, who studied alongside Meyer at Brigham Young University in Utah claims Meyers stole the vampire story from her because it's very similar to a short story she wrote while they were attending college together.
Stanton filed her lawsuit against Meyer in Utah last Tuesday, April 14th alleging idea infringement. She states in the papers, "Quite frankly, I was shocked when I began watching the movie with my husband last week. I immediately told him that she got that idea from me! I wrote a fictional short story with the same ideas when we were in college together." Read more...

Monday this week, as I’ve already mentioned, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, and Robert Pattinson were all on set by dawn. Very, very early starts to shoot on the edge of the woods. There’s a tense discussion between the three of them, then Taylor/Jacob leaves and wolf-transforms, then between KS and RP it gets kinda romantic as there’s talk of a wedding. Or something. They are shooting several options for a proposal, this is one of them – you’ll have to wait to see which they end up choosing.

Robert Pattinson's New Moon co-star Alex Meraz has defended the actor against allegations he smells a bit off. On-set sources were quoted as saying that the gloriously-haired actor has been stinking up filming on the Twilight sequel because he doesn't shower.

'Twilight Saga: New Moon' cast complete, filming starts
"New Moon," the second movie in the "Twilight" saga, has completed its cast -- filling the roles of Harry Clearwater and Volturi vampire Alec -- and started filming.
Alec -- the brother of powerful Volturi member Jane (Dakota Fanning) -- will be played by Cameron Bright. The 16-year-old starred opposite Nicole Kidman in the 2004 movie "Birth" and has also appeared in "X-Men: The Last Stand" and "Juno."
Veteran actor Graham Greene ("Dances with Wolves," "Northern Exposure") will play Charlie Clearwater, a Quileute tribal leader and a friend of Bella's (Kristen Stewart) father. Link with complete cast list...

Twilight's Robert Pattinson stars in "How To Be", a story about a singer/songwriter who is down on his luck and seeks help from a Canadian self-help guru. A brand new trailer for the movie has hit Yahoo! and if you are a Robert Pattinson fan, it's a must see.
In the trailer, Pattinson's character is down on his luck. His girlfriend breaks up with him. He gets fired from a volunteer job. He has moved back home with his parents who aren't interested in his life. He feels like he isn't normal and enlists the help of famous self-help author of "It's Not Your Fault", Dr. Ellington, to "fix" him. Will it work or should he just work on his music. Robert Pattinson retiring after Twilight?
In reference to actor Robert Pattinson, Internet Movie Database says:

"He has announced he will retire from acting following the fulfillment of his contract with Summit Entertainment and the Twilight saga which will see the release of New Moon and Eclipse summer 2010."

All this will depend on the quality of the next two films and the demand of the Twilight fans. Pattinson has already starred as Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. It was Twilight, and the conviction of its fanbase that propelled him to stardom.

Beyond Memoirs, and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, Robert Pattinson’s future in films is as yet unknown (unless Breaking Dawn, like he said, will be made).
What we do know is that he has been busy filming The Twilight Saga: New Moon in Vancouver, and that’s not all. Sam Bradley, close friend to Rob (and amazing musician responsible for co-authoring “Never Think (Too Far Gone)” from the Twilight soundtrack – see here for more on Sam Bradley) told me that he and Rob have been spending a lot of time together – writing a new song. The “New Moon” star Taylor Lautner was spotted posing with fans near the sets of the “Twilight” sequel in Vancouver, Canada. Always a gentleman, Lautner smiled for the cameras and signed autographs while taking a break from filming.
As previously reported, Lautner bulked up for the role in order to reprise his character as Jacob Black. He impressively packed on over 20 lbs of muscle to appear much stronger and older. Read more...

Michael Sheen Joins 'New Moon' Cast

The latest castmember to join "New Moon" manages to be both critically acclaimed and well-versed in playing creatures of the night. According to Variety, Michael Sheen has joined the highly anticipated "Twilight" sequel as Aro, the sinister and powerful leader of the Volturi.

Robert Pattinson and Kristen stewart are back to work of the set of the New Moon movie in a High School parking lot. The film currently in production is the second installment on the series based on the books written by Arizona author Stephanie Meyer. The film is the sequel to the hit Twilight (a great DVD rental right now that looks spectacular on a high definition television) and many of the actors were busy on set and the paparazzi were there and got many great photos of the cast. 'Twilight's' Rival Vampires Set Up Shop In Vancouver

Last week when we wrote about fan furor in Vancouver around the shooting of vampire sequel "New Moon," we suggested another production could sneak in under the radar and get a lot of work done while local teens were distracted. And look, someone was listening! Specifically, the CW, which is moving in with its own vampire show.

The network behind Gossip Girl recently ordered a pilot called "The Vampire Diaries," based on a '90s YA series by L.J. Smith about a girl in a small town who falls in love with the mysterious new guy in town only to discover that he is a, say it, vampire. "Dawson's Creek" creator Kevin Williamson is executive producing and "LOST"'s Ian Somerhalder has been cast as one of the vampires. And guess who was just spotted hanging out in Vancouver this week? VANCOUVER — Twilight film crews were rolling cameras at David Thompson secondary in Vancouver Monday — and an insider tells The Vancouver Sun they'll be back again Tuesday. Vampire fans were craning their necks to catch glimpses of the Twilight stars at the high school on East 55th Ave.
It's unclear which New Moon cast members were on location, but stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner are currently filming the blockbuster sequel in Vancouver. Pattinson was seen dining at Glowbal Grill and Satay Bar in Vancouver's trendy Yaletown last week. British actor ROBERT PATTINSON picked up an embarrassing injury during his first day shooting hit vampire movie TWILIGHT - he pulled a muscle in his buttocks.

Kellan confident over New Moon
Twilight star Kellan Lutz believes the film's sequel is even better than its predecessor. Kellan, who plays Emmett Cullen, is currently filming sequel New Moon in Los Angeles, and said he was impressed by the script.
"We have an awesome cast, like the first one," he said. "I love the script. The book was a little slow for me at the beginning, but this script, I like it even better than Twilight."

Whenever a movie reaches the levels of exposure and fame that “Twilight” has, rumors are certain to surface about anything and everything, from the relationships between cast members to what they do in the privacy of their own homes. In this context, hearing that Robert Pattinson has gotten physical with much younger Taylor Lautner over who the male hottie on the set of “New Moon” is should probably not come as too much of a surprise.
Fans of the film and the actors who appear in it should bear in mind, though, that this story comes from a tabloid, therefore it would be recommended if we took it with a grain of salt. With this in mind, Life&Style Weekly is reporting that sources on the set of “New Moon” speak of a real drama over Lautner getting to be the lead in the sequel, thus stealing Robert’s thunder. Twilight hunk Robert Pattinson was spotted at the Juno Awards, where Canada celebrates their best in music, last weekend in Vancouver. After the show, he reportedly attended the after party at Vancouver's Velvet Room inside the Opus Hotel. The VIP room of course!
Of course, the sexy vampire Ed Cullen was recognized and there were some giggles, but the Twilight actor was laidback, gracious, enjoyed a martini and just stayed cool.

Adaline, one of Canada's up n' coming indie-pop stars, ran into Twilight's Robert Pattinson — a.k.a. bloodsucker Edward Cullen — at a club in Vancouver.
She wrote about the experience on Twitter and MySpace, which was then posted to several Pattinson fan sites. In less than 24 hours, flocks of Twilight fans were checking out her MySpace page. How cool is that?

How far is too far in our Twilight series fandom? With newspapers gaggling over film stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson's choice of wardrobe and hairstyle on a near-daily basis (though I'll give some of them credit, lately - see here), a readership of Stephenie Meyer's hit series that has reached over 30 million, the film reaching the number one spot for the year (see here), and children running around biting other children in the name of Twilight (supposedly - see here), we have to step back and wonder, when is our fandom getting to be too much?

For that, we turned to James Marsters — who played Spike for seven years on both “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Angel” and who stars as Lord Piccolo in April 10th’s “Dragonball: Evolution.”
“I’m not aware of a split,” said Marsters diplomatically, explaining that there’s definitely crossover between “Buffy” and “Twilight” fans including he himself who has read the “Twilight” books with his family.
